North Carolinas Outer Banks

At the end of September we met up with our good friend the Borens on the NC outer banks.  We rented a house that was right across the street from the ocean.  We arrived Saturday afternoon and left a week later.  We had so much fun and plan on doing it again next year!!!

 On one of our days there we went to the NC aquarium on Roanoke Island.  They had some fun animals to see. They also had a great interactive program for the kids about saving sea turtles.  The best part was the big shark tank.  We could have sat in there and watched for a long time.

This was A's first time to really get into the sand.  He LOVED it.

We went up to Corolla NC where they have wild horsed that roam the beach.  We attempted driving our van on the beach, but we um got a little stuck.  After a lot of digging and some great help from some locals we were able to get back on the road.    Nathan and Corey and few of the kids went later in our friends SUV.  Nathan said it was really cool, but the horses didn't do anything. They just stood there.  Not really like what you think a wild horse would be like.

Our home for the week.  H was very sad to leave.  We all wish that we could have stayed longer, but we had a great time going.  Who is in for next year?

Knoebels

For Nathan's birthday we attended the Radiology Family Day at Knoebels (a wonderful amusement park about 15 minutes from our house).  They gave us each some tickets and then Nathan won some more, so we ended up with $50 worth of tickets.   They fed us some lunch and then we spent the rest of the afternoon on rides.   Nathan, E, and J, even participated in a family play!  We had so much fun.  It was our last Saturday in Pa and it was the best way to spend it.  Nathan mentioned that it was a fun birthday!

Board Certified and Graduated!

Nathan flew down to Louisville Kentucky and took the Radiology Oral Boards on May 26.  He had put in many hours of studying and work into preparing for this big test.   The biggest test of his career.   He did great and is now a Board Certified Radiologist.  Hurray for Nathan!!!! We are so glad to have that done.

On June 3 they had the graduation dinner.  They like to call it the fourth year saute.  They had the fourth years dress up like character from Star Trek and then they had to answer a bunch of questions.  It was  a lot of fun.  Nathan was gifted with a Star Trek  Titanium Spork!

It was fun to see the progress these four people made in the last for years!  We will miss you guys!

Graduation

K graduated from preschool the first week of June.  She absolutely LOVED preschool this year.  Her teachers were wonderful and she really thrived and learned a lot.

They sang a song about what each of the children liked to do. Here is K holding her baby doll.

 They also sang a song about the wide mouthed bull frog.  It was our personal favorite!

They also had all the Dad's get up and sing 'a tooty ta' with them.  Nathan did a wonderful job doing this and was a great sport.  K had really been looking forward to having Nathan get up and do this with her.  Way to go Nathan!  (I have a video somewhere.  I will post it if I can find it)

Houses

On February first we put on house in the market for sale by owner.  By mid April I had shown house to about 15 people, but no offers.  I was a little discouraged and after talking Nathan and I decided to list our house with a realtor.  We signed papers even though I had one more person that was coming to look.  This last person that I showed loved the house and we started negotiations.  To make a long and frustrating story short we ended up having to involve our realtor and his and paying more.  We were able to negotiate a price for the house that wouldn't leave us losing too much and we sold our home!  We lived in that home for 4 years and truly loved it.  It was our first home and we built many great memories.  We will miss you!

Here is a quick update of what we did in the spring.

In case you can't tell the project was on Habanero peppers and how to store them.

 We also live in our pajamas.  It was very cold outside and many days the kids would come home and change into their pajamas.

 Here is evidence that even though H tortures little A, he loves her very dearly.
